I had a lot of fun making the Daedric sword
so I decided I'd have a go at creating another one from scratch, the
Glass sword seemed like a great idea. This time I created my own
template by tracing over the game model in Photoshop and printing it to
scale.
Basic cutout, 3 layers thick |
Comparing the size to my Daedric sword |
For the pommel, I needed the base to be just a little bit thinner. I managed to peel the paper of the top and scrape away a little bit of foam to reduce the thickness |
Each layer of 5mm foam board has 2 layers of 2.5mm foam with paper top, bottom and middle, so the handle is 3 layers thick and the pommel is 2 layers |
For some of the very fine detail I used cereal box cardboard and layered it to the desired thickness, these parts are for the handguard |
I added a single layer of card to the pommel to keep it smooth |
Gluing the detailed parts on and cutting the small details into the pommel |
Everything glued on |
Finished the sanding and used a dremel tool on the blade to get a nice edge |
Cutting the grooves into the tip of the blade |
Starting with the many coats of primer |
Spray painted the sword black (not sure why...) |
Green coat |
Gold coat |
Painting some detail onto the sword to give it a more textured/weathered look |
Clear coat and drying. All finished |
